International move

Overall good experience. Overall costs ended up being a higher than the original quote, but it was still less than we had budgeted for. Out stuff was packed up quickly and securely, and they were easy to communicate with.

Relocation move

So, I already had relocated to Asia, I had gotten rid of a lot of things, but, I still had a lot of things I wanted with me in my new life. So I did bite the bullet and tried to find a moving company that suited my needs. I picked Intraglobe, I liked the door to door service, kinda traditional moving style.

It feels like all moving companies have their fair share of bad reviews in general, so it’s not an easy choice.

Anyway, from start to end all went well, from picking at my friends house where I had been storing my belongings to storing in their warehouse (so my stuff would arrive not too early) packing, shipping, clearing customs (that was a bit worrisome as the country I live in has difficult customs clearance procedure but all went like a charm) and finally delivery to my home (new home)

Communication was good and all was pretty simple.

I had chosen door to door service and I am glad I did, I didn’t really have to do anything except make a list of what I was shipping and cross my fingers for all to go well.

Glad it did.

I know many people had bad experiences with shipping companies, I personally know of some from friends who had difficulties.

I think its a good idea to take insurance if you are shipping valuable things (I didn’t, although my items were valuable, they were not replaceable so insurance would not have worked or helped in my case)

I think you also have to be realistic, a lot can happen when you ship from one corner of the world to another one.

Be specific, if something is fragile, indicate it, maybe pack that item yourself, if you decide to pack yourself, dont mix light and heavy things together, maybe better leave it to the pros, dont ship stuff you can easily replace in your new location, that will only inflate your final bill,.

Realize that once your stuff is packed, and crated if needed or put on a palette, the volume to ship is going to increase. More volume, more cost.

All this might be self evident to some but reading some of the reviews I read from various companies, it is not self evident to some, more than some…

But, if you have your things in order, organized, a list of what you ship, a window of when you can expect to receive things (mine arrived later than they were supposed to) but I was told that the date of arrival might change. I was okay with that.

(I think that has to do with wether you ship a full container or not, I was not)

On the other hand, I could not receive my things too early because I was visiting family in another country.

That was clearly specified and respected.

Anyway, this company did well for me. I still have some more items to ship and I will use this company again. (I wanted to see how this shipment would go first with customs here)

Well, enough said, I hope this helps some people to make their decisions, or maybe better understand what they need.

20% of stuff missing at arrival, motorcycle damaged, no help

This company seems to basically be a customer front for IMS Moving Network. I was put in relation with people from IMS each time I contacted the sales person from Intraglobe. They subcontracted IMS Moving Network (Canada) and Magellan Transit (France) when I mandated them to move 10 cubic meters and a motorcycle from Canada to France. The pick up was handled smoothly in Canada. I delivered the bike to their warehouse in Montreal for shipping within the container. It took about 5 and a half weeks to receive most of it.

At arrival, about 20% of the shipment was missing (including a queen size mattress and big boxes, total value of more than 2000€) and my motorcycle was moderately damaged on the right side, indicating a heavy drop which compromised the throttle and damaged brand new fairings. My stuff also transited through Paris which was never agreed to in the contract. I contacted them to share these issues, and their only answer was to link me with their legal representative who reminded me several times I could make no claim since no insurance had been subscribed and proceeded to tell me to ask my vehicle insurance to cover the cost of repairs on my motorcycle, adding that they would not be liable for any of the missing boxes nor damage. They made absolutely NO EFFORT to help me find the missing 2 cubic meters of boxes and mattress. It turns out their French subcontractor (whose name was only revealed to me by Intraglobe about a week before the first delivery) had forgotten them in their Paris warehouse. I had to call said subcontractor (Magellan Transit) several times to have them tell me they had my stuff in their warehouse. Mind you: all of these boxes and mattress were marked with my name on them. It ended up being delivered in full several weeks later.

Had I known they would be using IMS Moving Network beforehand, I would have never signed the contract with them. Just go and check their google reviews for reference. They were also extremely quick to remind me they would not be liable for anything bad that happened to my stuff and vehicle.

Irresponsible behavior and despicable customer service. Never again.

Good experience for a first long-distance move

Overall, I had a good experience with IntraGlobe and IMS Moving Network for a move from Canada to Europe. I selected the options of bringing my packed belongings to the Montreal facility, for the company to deliver the shipment at my new address at destination, and to handle customs procedures at both ends. Since I had never shipped my personal belongings in this way before, the agents who worked on my file were knowledgeable, professional, and helpful with the paperwork, and the process was smooth afterwards.

I greatly appreciate the care put by the staff at the facility in Montreal during "palettisation" to minimise damage during transport, and to facilitate my shipment's passage through customs. I had already numbered each box/package and had a detailed record of their content; bringing this information with me on the drop-off day definitely helped with this step.

I was given an estimate of how long shipping and customs clearance would be, but was immediately notified when the shipment was ready to be delivered at my new address. All my belongings were intact. I did not take the insurance coverage as I did not ship anything of great value or that was irreplaceable. I also did not bring any furniture during this move. However, I had packed all relatively fragile items carefully and in a sensible manner for my own peace of mind.

In general, I am glad and relieved the whole process went well for me; I had not done a move of this scale before, and had to make an informed decision based on online reviews and after contacting several companies. The only advice I would give would be to properly estimate the volume of your shipment prior to finalising the contract, as I had largely overestimated mine and the price cannot be adjusted after.

Unprofessional Moving company Professionals ripping off.

My husband and I have moved more than twelve times all around the world from Australia to America and by far the worst movers company ever has been INTERNIC / INTRAGLOBE Int. movers company (they are the same company). We moved from Montreal to Jamaica in 2015 paying 12.215 CAD included the full coverage insurance, door to door, full packing service, unpacking and removal of debris at my residence in Jamaica, port charges and customs formalities.

INTERNIC / INTRAGLOBE promised us that the movers would arrive at our place on 17th July between 9 to 11 am. We insisted because the same day we were leaving Montreal for good. By 11 am no-one had shown up and we called INTRAGLOBE they said that the movers would arrive in 5 minutes with a team of 8 to ensure the move would be done on time. After several phone calls back and forth a team of 3 arrived at around 1:10 pm and they started to pack at 2pm. Considering this long delay and the fact that we were leaving the country that evening, we took the initiative to start packing. At around 3 pm 2 additional staff arrived.
We would like to point out a number of issues regarding the behaviour of the moving staff. From the beginning we realized that they were not professional packers. To our surprise, the staff used our microwave oven to prepare their meals and helped themselves to our cutlery, without asking. A few minutes later, as we continued to help with the packing, we realized that only one of the staff was in the apartment besides us. When we asked where the other staff was, he said they were having their lunch break, and mentioned they had the right to have a proper lunch and a one-hour break. Also, the movers were not careful in the way they packed some of the items. For example, they were hitting with the trolley the wooden frame of an antique chest. We discussed about the way they treated the furniture and it was only when they saw that we were writing on the inventory list that “Many items were leaving the house unpacked” that they started to pack a few of the things that were left to pack: antique chests, carpet, lamp. However, many items left the house unpacked such as the bed frames, suitcases, diving equipment, golf bag, iron board and barbeque.
The wall of the corridor was left with red marks from the rubbing of the mover’s shirts against it. When we complained, they said: you can clean it.
We spoke and wrote an email to Mr Monier complaining about the move. However, he never answered.
A couple of days after the move, the building’s manager called us to advise that the Emergency Exit signal of the building’s corridor was broken by the movers. The replacement cost was 400 CAD and INTRAGLOBE paid 200 CAD and we paid the other 200 CAD.
When the container arrived in Jamaica the representative company (Maritime Solutions) asked us to pay a number of services, including: Bill of Sight, Storage, Container. Obviously, we were surprised as the contract included door-to-door services. In particular, Maritime Solutions said that the service they had been contracted did not include bringing the goods into the house and less umpacking.
We would like to point out that when the container was opened we (and Maritime Solutions) noticed that the stuff we had been promised would be packed in Montreal, was not packed, including the beds. Also, many boxes were broken.
We were asked to sign the condition of the goods. We were going to write that many boxes were broken but the representative said that we should unpack the items and then write about any problems and that he would inform INTRAGLOBE about the condition of the boxes.
After opening more than 100 boxes, many of them which arrived broken, we sent the claim list to INTRAGLOBE, with pictures, showing the condition of the items. E.g. - Danish ceramic tray, they placed in at the bottom of a big box containing the vacuum cleaner, tool box. - Drawings and women’s designer hats were placed in a box together with electronics items and below a heavy leather rug. - Creased suits and trousers, there were packed with heavy decorate objets. - Books greasy, because they packed with candles. - Sewing machine is not working any more, etc.
We spent long time without any news from them. We called INTRAGLOBE many times to resolve this situation and many excuses came up. After several emails, phone calls back and forth Mr Monier offered us 400 CAD saying that otherwise he’s not going to make money from the insurance company. BTW, we never received that money.
I contacted Justice de Québec. They read and saw the pictures and recommended me to follow the process. I sent two Formal Notice to Mr. Monier but he never answered, as usual.
They know perfectly the process and before judgment we need a representative in Montreal to continue with the process. We had a witness, a friend who came home to say goodbye. She could see the disaster work from unprofessional movers but she moved to Europe too. Of course!, using another moving company.

INTERNIC / INTRAGLOBE and the winner, Mr. Monier, do not know about the moral and ethical principles!! AVOID THESE COMPANIES AND IF YOU HEAR THE NAME “JACQUES MONIER” RUN AWAY.

International move from Montreal to Limoges, France.

Without getting into a long and boring story telling about my moving experience with this international moving company, Intraglobe, let’s just say that if I was to start all over again, I would most likely sell all my goods and start fresh wherever I would settle. The main problem with international moving is there are a lot of different participants, each all independent of one another.
My problem started essentially when my container arrived at the seaport in Bordeaux, France. The french transport company just simply decided it was inconvenient to deliver my load at my residence in Limoges, France, hence charging me an extra $1600 fee for warehousing ( I went to city hall to find out if any transport company had applied for a delivery permit as it is required in any big city in France, and it hadn’t been done so my guess is that either some pencil pusher forgot to apply for a permit or simply used this pretext to make some extra money )
I had warned Intraglobe even before signing my contract that there would be an issue concerning delivery in the busy streets of Limoges and they assured me that they had contacted their agent in Bordeaux and that everything was under control. (I still have all the e-mail exchange) Obviously, there only concern was that I sign that darn contract at any cost. (over $8,000) .
Intraglobe was not to happy either when they received that extra billing but after a month of negotiation with ‘Leon Vincent overseas’ , they decided it was easier to pass the bill on to me then to take it to court (or maybe, it was planned from the beginning and they shared the profit 50/50 !!) Naturally, I could’ve refused the extra cost but since they controlled everything I have ever owned in my life, I was in no position to negotiate and they knew that. Who wants to spend $10,000 on lawyers just to save a fraction of that? Also, who do you sue and in which country? I signed my contract with Intraglobe in Montreal and was hoping they had enough professional experience to foresee and even expect these kind of problems. So even though my issues where directed towards another transport company, it is a partner that Intraglobe deals with, I assume, on a regular bases, they should be responsible for all problem arising from it.
And by the way, as I found out the hard way, a lot of the Montreal shipping companies are interconnected. For some unknown reason, Euro-transport got involved in this particular issue so you can imagine how virtually impossible to point a finger at when something goes wrong!! I suppose if I had been a regular client, meaning shipping goods on a regular basis, I would have been treated differently and with more respect, but obviously, just being a one timer makes me an easy target.
The only positive thing about this moving experience in that I received all my goods unbroken, although some of the boxes where in pretty bad shape. (they made me sign a discharge for it so they would not be made responsible for it) Luckily I had packed myself and made wooden crates for all delicate and fragile items such as dishes, glass, stained glass windows, etc.
Managing a business like that is shameful and corrupt. I really wonder how these people can sleep at night.
So be warned people! International moving companies are just in actual fact representative agents who hires various other companies that they have no control over. If you are considering moving overseas, deal directly with a trucking company that already have regular clients that ships overseas. It's most likely going to cost you less since you have just eliminated a useless intermediary.

A nightmare.

A nightmare so unprofessional! They broke most of all our furnitures, refuse to pay back instead of buying an extra insurance. They estimated all our damage fees at 300$ while they broke for 6 000$! Please don't pick them as moving company. You can read our full story (in french here: https://www.leffetcrea.com/news/quand-votre-demenagement-tourne-a-lenfer-avec-intraglobe-international/.

International move from Quebec to France

I'm surprised to see the 3 bad comments but I also understand that they were written a couple of years ago.

I have met the staff of Intraglobe Quebec, composed of french people and canadian people. They were all very nice and professional. The warehouse director is very cautious and he takes good care of your goods. Our 40 feet container was loaded after 2 months storage at Intraglobe's warehouse in Levis (QC). We were already in France at this time and we put our trust in the people. I am fully happy of my decision and choice as everything went perfect, from the begining to the final delivery.

I can only recommend Levis Intraglobe as I have only met the people of this warehouse. Thanks a lot to your kindness.

Still waiting on my goods

Interglobe promised in September 2021 when I signed a contract with them that my goods will be received by February. I am moving from Montreal to Christchurch in NZ and my goods have not even been sent yet, they are sitting in a warehouse somewhere in Canada since November 2021. Thestaff didn't understand not care about NZ biosafety rules and even if we asked very specific things regarding to that they didn't follow our requirements. Many emails sent, no answer. Very unprofessional service, on all levels. Not recommended.
